Here at SSI, we are continuing to grow our conservation offerings and expand the ways you can explore the aquatic world. Learning about the marine life you can encounter while diving really enhances your dives, so we are excited to announce our newest ecology course, SSI Marine Invertebrate Ecology.

What are marine invertebrates?
Invertebrates are animals that lack a vertebral column. They were the first animals to exist on Earth and have been here for over 500 million years! Invertebrates make up most of the life on Earth and are vital to the health and well-being of our planet.
In the SSI Marine Invertebrate Ecology program, you will discover the different types of invertebrates found in the ocean and find out why these creatures are a vital part of ocean ecosystems.
What will you learn in the SSI Marine Invertebrate Ecology program?
In this new SSI ecology specialty, you will explore the wonders of marine invertebrates. This captivating course covers topics like invertebrate evolution and the ecology of simple and complex invertebrates like nematodes, sponges, jellyfish, sea stars, squids, and the ever-popular nudibranchs.
You will also explore the connections between humans and marine invertebrates and their impact on coral reefs. This program increases environmental awareness and helps you to appreciate the marine life you dive with even more!
