Grow your dive career with these Professional Recognition Ratings:

1. SSI DIVEMASTER INSTRUCTOR

The SSI Divemaster Instructor rating recognizes instructors for their efforts to develop their professional career and their achievements in promoting continuing education programs.

Candidate Prerequisites: 

You must have the following active-status SSI certifications (no equivalency permitted):

  • Open Water Instructor.
  • Deep Diving Instructor.
  • Dive Guide Instructor.
  • Diver Stress & Rescue Instructor.
  • Navigation Instructor.
  • Night & Limited Visibility Instructor.

You must also have issued:

  • At least 25 certifications from any recreational program.

Once the prerequisites are updated in your MySSI profile, a free Divemaster Instructor digital recognition card is automatically issued at no charge.

Divemaster Instructor Benefits:

In addition to the duties performed by an active status Advanced Open Water Instructor, active status Divemaster Instructors may:

  • Conduct the Divemaster Crossover program for candidates from other recognized scuba training agencies.
  • Enroll in an Assistant Instructor Trainer program after meeting the prerequisites.

2.SSI MASTER INSTRUCTOR

Candidate Prerequisites:

You must have the following:

  • Logged at least 250 dives.
  • Train primarily SSI programs at all dive professional levels.
  • Certifications from other recognized agencies will apply to the certification requirements.

You must have the following SSI certifications (no equivalency permitted):

You must also have issued at least 150 certifications including:

You may count completed Try ScubaBasic Diver, Referral Diver, and Scuba Diver programs toward the minimum requirements for Open Water Diver certifications. The following conversion ratios apply:

  • 12 Try Scuba recognitions are equivalent to 1 Open Water Diver certification.
  • 6 Basic Diver certifications are equivalent to 1 Open Water Diver certification.
  • 2 Referral Diver certifications are equivalent to 1 Open Water Diver certification.
  • 2 Scuba Diver certifications are equivalent to 1 Open Water Diver certification.
