Diving in Tavolara Marine Protected Area

These protected areas are made up of three unique zones. In Zone A diving is not allowed at all. In Zone B, you are allowed to dive there with the guidance of certain registered diving centers and in Zone C you are free to dive as you please. Overall, it is 93 square kilometers (58 square miles) of water around Sardinia that is protected. The protection of this area offers is an incredibly fertile ecosystem with a great variance of marine life. This marine life has increased dramatically since the area became protected in the late 1990s.
