Diving in Alter Rhein

This is the old river bed of the Alpine Rhine in St Gallen and Vorarlberg in the Alpine Rhine valley which was later cut off during the straightening of the Rhine. The cut off parts have now grown remarkably to become valuable recreational areas, a beautiful nature reserve and ideal water sport site. This is a great practice dive site with depths of just 9m (30ft), it is ideal for beginners and you’ll see a lot of fish, mainly pike. The water is clearer in winter and cloudier in the summer months. It is also great for night dives.
