Diving in Apo Reef
About 15 nautical miles west of Occidental Mindoro province, and in the Mindoro Strait, you can find Apo Reef. This reef covers around 34 square kilometers (13 square miles) and consists of two triangular-shaped atoll-like lagoons fringed with coral reef formations; in this area, you will find a white sandy bottom channel running from east to west hosting various branching corals. During low tide, you can expect to see the northernmost atoll. Healthy growing corals inhabit the waters in this area, along with a wide array of marine species that can be seen in both shallow and deep water.
