Diving in Freibacher Stausee

Freibacher is located 736m (2,414ft) above sea level at the foot of the Hochobir. It is 400m (1,312ft) wide and 1,200m (3,937ft) long with a maximum depth of 33m (108ft). In July and August, you usually have the best visibility, which happens to coincide with the warmest temperatures, creating a great diving experience.
Its underwater environment comprises little vegetation, with gravel, and rock along the shore and if heavily silted on the shallow lake bottom. Along with tree stumps, you will find a whole variety of fish sheltering in the protection of the roots, from perch, brown trout and lake trout.
