Diving in Grüner See

Set 776 meters (2,546ft) above sea level, Grüner See a fantastic dive site for beginners. The lake forms during the snowmelt and disappears every summer. During this time, fishermen also fish for char and trout, which feed on the caddis fly larvae living there. The lake’s water level affects its size dramatically. It can expand to up to 250 meters (820ft) in length, then in width, it reaches a maximum of about 70 meters (230ft). If there is less water, then the lake retreats and is about 150 meters (492ft) long and not more than 50 meters (164ft) wide.
