Diving in the Isla del Hierro

The island of Hierro is home to the beautiful La Restinga Marine Reserve, an official sanctuary for a number of marine species including tunafish, stingrays, dolphins, turtles, barracudas, and the occasional whaleshark. In 2011, an underwater volcano emerged, giving way to a regenerated underwater landscape, and luckily a more varied and rich biodiversity. Renowned for the clarity of its warm waters, as well as its “off-the-beaten-track” charm, Hierro is a paradise for travelers looking for that something special. The village of La Restinga is where one will find the majority of local diving centers.
