Diving in Sorpesee

Sorpesee, Lake Sorpe or Sorpe Dam, is a mass of water on the Sorpe River, close to the town of Sundern, North Rhine-Westphalia, some 50km (31mi) south east of Dortmund.

Known as a rather deep reservoir, it boasts depths of up to 36m (118ft), and is suitable for both beginners and advanced divers. The local authorities permit night diving.

Popular during the summer months, the lake offers a multitude of activities other than scuba diving, which include swimming, rowing, sailing, surfing, and fishing.

With a few interesting species of freshwater fish, but little marine flora, it is still bound to enthrall underwater photographers and fish divers alike.
