Diving in Starnberger See

Mentioned in T. S. Eliot’s poem, The Waste Land, Starnberger See, or Lake Strnberger in English, is a anything but an eyesore. Located in the town of Starnberger in picturesque Bavaria, some 25km (16 mi) southwest of Munich, it presents an ideal site for divers.

At 56ha (138ac), it is Germany’s fifth largest freshwater lake , and one of its deepest, about 128m (420ft), making it the second largest, following Lake Constance, in terms of water volume.

With good visibility, up to 30m (98ft), and some beautiful underwater features, including a steep wall, an old wreck, and stunning fauna, there are sites to satisfy divers of all levels and tastes.
