Diving in Tollensesee

The Tollensesee near Neubrandenburg is one of the most interesting diving spots in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and a great German dive site. At 10km (6 miles) long and up to 2.5km (1.5 miles) wide, the lake offers good visibility and interesting sights. Here you not only enjoy a huge variety of fish species, such as the rare burbot (Lota lota) but also several wrecks, target platforms and numerous objects from the time of the Third Reich at the bottom of the lake, which has a maximum depth of 31.2m (102ft). There is even an artificial island that was used for testing torpedoes during World War Two.
