Diving in Traunsee

The craggy peaks that surround this lake give it a distinctly dramatic feel, which is fitting seeing that at 191 meters (627ft) it is the deepest lake in Austria. An El Dorado for both beginners and experienced divers, this lake is home to fascinating steep walls off the south and east shores, which seem to plunge into infinite depths, or the shallower sedimentary terraces in the northern part of the lake - some even with freshwater sponges as well as bass, pike, eel and carp.
