Embudu Express

Embudu Express is famous for its current which can be up to 5-6 knots at times. Divers first go down straight to the edge in the middle of the channel and wait at 25-30m. The sharks and eagle rays come closer and closer.

Embudu Channel

This is a marine protected area because of the population of grey reef and white tip sharks it supports. The dive starts on the south side of the channel and then sinks down to the edge of the last “step” around 30m.

Alikoe Giri

Small Giri (shallow reef platform) located in a system of many Giris. The reef top is at 1-3m and slopes gently down. You can cross from one Giri to the other but the visibility is not very good usually.

In the local language (Dhivehi), Miyaru means “shark“ and Faru means “reef“. Shark’s reef it is then, so it’s not too hard to guess what you can expect here!! White tip sharks galore, grey reef sharks aplenty, a few nurse sharks, less common leopard sharks too and even rare tiger sharks & whale sharks sightings!

Although generally less dived than its northern counterpart (Miyaru Faru), Gulhi corner is a good option when oceanic current runs from the south east. A nice place to finish the dive after crossing the channel (coming from Myraru Faru corner). Some small overhangs with nice hard & soft corals. plenty of pelagics.

Gulhi Dhigu Thila

Dhigu Thila lies in the pass between the local island of Gulhi & the resort of Anantara. A quite long thila, it boasts majestic sea fans, beautiful soft & hard corals, and a dense & thriving fish life. Marble sting rays, eagle rays, grey reef sharks, occasional manta rays, and good macro is what you can expect here.
