Djeu (Ilhéu dos Pássaros)

Djeu is an islet located 3,5km NW of Mindelo, 5 min by boat from Porto Grande, where the lighthouse of Dom Luís is located. In this spot it is possible to do between 4 to 6 different routes, being a versatile spot suitable for different types of dives and the most varied profiles of divers.

Ninho de Guincho

On the northwest of the island, just 10 minutes by boat from Porto Grande, is the bay of Ninho de Guincho (named after the nests of this type of osprey on top of the rock). It is possible to do 4 to 6 routes in the same spot. Offering relaxing dives (5-12m) as well as more demanding ones (15-22m).

SS Marcar

With a maximum depth of 15 meters, the SS Marcar was a Liberty Ship built in the USA during World War II. The ship was suffering water leaks so it was stranded in Tarrafal, Santo Antão and later towed to São Vicente. In 1968 she sank in the Bay.

Eder´s Trident

Like Ponta de Tubarão, this spot offers the possibility of getting away from the usual style of just following the mountains in drifting mode. The ’’Trident’’ are three rocks approximately 6 meters high, which extend towards the middle of the bay, towards the North, N/E and surrounded by white sand on the sides.

Edzina

The name is a mix of Éder and Zina, two divers who discovered the spot, after following rocks and fragments on Northwest of ́ ́Ponta de Tubarão’’. It is undoubtedly one of the top 5 on the island, containing peculiar characteristics and being so far the only recorded reef that is right in the middle of the sand.

Ponta de Tubarão

Also known as ’’Ponta do Morro Branco’’, it is a place totally different from others, at the foot of the mountains. In this particular case, you have to swim to the Open Water, between the 3 reefs. It has a max depth of 16m, with the average being between 11-13m. Rich in shoals, corals, gorges and small caves.

O nome deve-se ao facto da rocha ser formada por pedras pretas que lembram um conjunto de pequenos cubos. Tem uma profundidade média de 14-16 metros e 22 no máximo. Normalmente faz-se mergulho à deriva, com pedras sempre à esquerda e areia branca à direita, onde se encontra um pequeno recife na parte mais profunda.

Approximately 5 to 8 minutes by boat from Porto Grande bay, this place, like the other bays, offers shallow and drift diving, with a large concentration of schools and other attractions. It is said that the tip of the rock resembles the head of a howling dog. It has a maximum depth of 22 meters.

Ponta Nho Jon ( Deep)
