The first Extra Divers diving center was opened in Makadi Bay on the Red Sea in 1998. There are now 25 diving centers, three safari boats and six Extra Divers hotel resorts at the most beautiful diving spots worldwide. At the beginning of their success story, the diving pioneers of Extra Divers saw a combination of professional tourism and excellent guest service as a unique selling point in the care of the growing diving travel market. So they hit the nail on the head. After the first diving base in Makadi Bay, as well as bases in Dahab and Gozo, many more quickly followed. The collaboration with selected tour operators, hotels and airlines soon led to a consistently positive response from satisfied guests. Today the Extra Divers have an excellent image among their regular German and international customers. The Extra Divers Worldwide are managed by the entrepreneur and enthusiastic diver Walter Harscher. In order to ensure the high quality standards, he personally travels to the diving centers several months a year to check that everything is in order.

The Extra Divers diving center is located directly on the Corniche, in the marina of Port Ghalib. Several hotels are in the immediate vicinity: “The Palace“, “Siva“, “Port Ghalib Resort“ and “Sunrise Marina Resort“. On the promenade of the marina, many shops, restaurants and bars invite you to stroll and linger. Divers can choose between the protected and beautiful house reef, mini bus tours or boat trips to the top spots in the area. The day boat is only a few steps away from the base at the pier and goes to the famous Elphinstone Reef!

The varied house reef is about 400 meters from the gates of the Extra Divers diving center and is one of the most beautiful in southern Egypt. With plateaus, steep walls and depths between 5 and 40 meters, the approximately 2 km long, intact reef offers different diving opportunities. In addition to very beautiful coral gardens with many schooling fish and moray eels, you will also find eagle rays, turtles, napoleons, barracudas and, with a little luck, dolphins and whitetip reef sharks. Base-owned club cars comfortably bring the divers and their equipment to the entrances and collect them after the dive. Further dive sites can be reached in 15 to 90 minutes and are suitable for both beginners and advanced. Various attractions of the southern reefs are in the catchment area of the base, including Elphinstone with opportunities for Lomgimanus and hammerhead sharks as well as the dive sites of Abu Dabab and Abu Saile. The range of the diving center ranges from Zerib Kebir in the north to Abu Dabab in the south. Half-day and full-day tours are offered by day boat or by minibus. After diving, you can unwind with a drink in the cozy seating areas at the base.
