Broccoli Patch

Broccoli Patch is a great dive site for new and not yet qualified divers. Easy descent from the boat to a 5m sandy bottom. Slow ascend to 3m then drop down slowly to 9m. A perfect location for dive students working on their buoyancy skills.

Hooters

Easy dive site for new and not yet qualified divers. Descend to the 8m bottom. Explore the reef and rubble-filled bottom out towards the drop-off. Then work on those navigation skills on the return to the dive boat.

The Rip

World famous “The Rip“ Located at the southern tip of Direction Island. Due to the possible strong incoming current, usually only experienced as a snorkel dive. Occasionally with a northern swell entering the lagoon the inward flow may diminish allowing the site to be experienced on scuba.

Royal Dalton

Royal Dalton. Amazing old large plate corals, some no longer with us. Now look for the new growth replacing what was previous. Enjoy three ways: Slip down the wall to 22m and look up into the corals above you. As you run out of bottom time get close, then drift back to the boat mid water.

Manta Cleaning Station

Popular snorkel site close to Direction Island. Local mantas favor this site for their regular cleaning. Two small coral outcrops at 9m home for the cleaning wrasse needed for this vital service.

Easy afternoon dive site after a relaxing lunch on Direction Island. Kat our resident dugong is sighted regularly here. Also a favourite location for dolphins and mantas entering or leaving the lagoon.

Old Cleaning Station

For many years this was a manta cleaning station. For some unknown reason, the mantas no longer use this site. It is a popular training site for new divers. Keep it in your log book however most likely to dive the new cleaning station.

Cable Bommie

Lots of historic equipment on the bottom here for those who need iron in their diving diet. Several cables from Direction island, plus 2 large winches that we assume were used to pull the cables ashore from the ship. Also plenty of coral and fish for those not interested in man made “junk.“

Two Ridges

With some imagination, the two large coral outcrops at Two Ridges looks like a sunken upside down catamaran hull. Kat the dugong was a regular visitor to this site.

Fan Wall

Popular site for all levels of divers. Lots to see on top of the reef shallower than 20m. Experienced divers can venture out into the blue to swim with the black trevally and look down at the cruising sharks and dogtooth tuna. The expert diver can slip down the wall to 40m to enjoy the fans and a cave.
